Intercom Fin pricing starts at $0.99 per outcome on every plan. Intercom costs $29 per full seat per month on Essential, $85 on Advanced and $132 on Expert with annual billing. With one Essential seat and 300 outcomes at that rate, the monthly equivalent is $326 before add-ons.

Those figures come from Intercom's pricing page. Monthly seat billing costs more than the annual rates shown here. Your budget depends on full seats, billable Fin outcomes and optional tools, so compare the complete setup.

Intercom pricing plans at a glance

PlanFull seat price per month billed annuallyIncluded Lite seatsBest for
Essential$29No included allowance listedA smaller team starting with a help desk
Advanced$8520 free Lite seatsTeams involving colleagues beyond full agents
Expert$13250 free Lite seatsLarger support operations evaluating the highest tier

Each plan requires at least one full seat. Lite seats are a separate access category, so check permissions before treating them as substitutes for full agents. Fin usage is additional on every plan. Essential and Advanced are available self-serve with monthly or annual billing without a contract.

Intercom live chat pricing starts with seats

For human live chat, count the people who need full seats and multiply by the chosen plan's rate. That is the starting subscription before Fin or add-ons. If your team mainly answers website questions, decide whether you need a full help desk before comparing its seat price with a website chatbot subscription.

How Intercom Fin pricing works per outcome

Fin starts at $0.99 per outcome, rather than charging for every message. An outcome counts when the customer confirms the issue is resolved, stops asking for help after Fin responds, or Fin completes a workflow, including handoffs. A conversation is charged only once even if Fin answers several questions.

The stopped-asking rule matters. Your internal report might reserve the word resolved for explicit customer confirmation, while the billing definition also includes a customer who goes quiet after an answer. A workflow handoff can count too, so an outcome does not always mean the customer avoided human support.

Intercom chatbot pricing without full seats

Standalone Fin works with an existing help desk, such as Salesforce or Zendesk. There are no seat costs, setup fees or platform fees, but a minimum monthly commitment applies. Intercom illustrates that commitment with 50 outcomes. Confirm the minimum for your agreement rather than assuming standalone means unrestricted pay-as-you-go usage.

This route suits a team keeping its current inbox and adding Fin. Compare the Fin charge alongside your existing help desk bill. Removing Intercom seats from the calculation does not remove the cost of the system your agents already use.

Add-ons that change Intercom cost

Add-onPriceIncluded usage
Pro$100 per monthOperator, analysis of 500 conversations a month and 6,000 credits a month. Extra credits cost $0.01 each.
Copilot$29 per agent per month billed annually or $35 billed monthlyUnlimited Copilot usage with the paid add-on. Each agent gets 10 free Copilot conversations a month.
Proactive Support Plus$99 per month500 messages

Copilot assists agents, while Fin's outcome charge measures the customer-facing agent. Budget for them separately. Before buying unlimited Copilot, use the free conversations to check whether agents find it useful. Include Pro and proactive messaging only if the team intends to use their allowances.

Three worked monthly Intercom totals

These are illustrative monthly equivalents using annually billed seats and Fin's starting $0.99 outcome rate. They are calculations, not customer invoices or monthly billing quotes. The final example also uses annually billed Copilot.

SetupArithmeticMonthly equivalent
1 Essential seat and 300 Fin outcomes1 × $29 + 300 × $0.99 = $29 + $297$326
5 Advanced seats and 1,000 Fin outcomes5 × $85 + 1,000 × $0.99 = $425 + $990$1,415
10 Expert seats and 3,000 Fin outcomes plus Copilot for 10 agents10 × $132 + 3,000 × $0.99 + 10 × $29 = $1,320 + $2,970 + $290$4,580

The first total excludes optional add-ons. The second does not treat included Lite seats as full seats. The third includes paid Copilot but excludes Pro and Proactive Support Plus. Your payment schedule can differ from these monthly equivalents when subscriptions are billed annually.

How to estimate your Fin bill before you sign

Start with your own incoming conversation count. Separate questions Fin could answer from account disputes, exceptions and requests needing a person. Then choose an assumed resolution share based on a trial with your content. Label that share as an assumption, since a vendor's billing definition may differ from your team's quality standard.

Multiply the expected billable outcomes by the quoted outcome rate, then add full seats and selected add-ons. Include customers who stop asking after Fin replies and workflows that complete with handoffs. Excluding those categories could understate the bill even if your estimate of fully automated resolutions is accurate.

Compare the estimate with trial conversations, checking whether answers were useful as well as billable. Ask how the standalone minimum, reporting and billing period apply to your account. Keep seat and usage calculations separate so you can see whether hiring or traffic growth changes the budget.

Intercom startup pricing through Early Stage

Eligible startups can receive up to 93% off through the Early Stage program, plus one year of Fin free. Eligibility matters, and the maximum discount is not a promise that every applicant receives the same terms. Confirm the offer and the price after the benefit ends.

Intercom also offers a 14 day free trial without a credit card. Use it to test actual questions, human handoffs and the features your team needs before choosing billing terms.

A cheaper option for a small business website

ChatBotWidget uses flat plans with included AI replies, no per-seat fee and no per-resolution fee. It is a website chatbot, rather than a full help desk with an email ticketing inbox like Intercom. That narrower scope can make it a cheaper fit when the job is answering questions on your site.

The comparison below assumes each chat produces one billable Fin outcome or uses one ChatBotWidget reply. This is a calculation assumption, not a typical conversation length. A reply is one bot message, and a conversation can use several replies. Longer chats can require a higher ChatBotWidget plan.

Site includes one bot and no actions. Business includes bookings, CRM leads to HubSpot, Pipedrive or a webhook, and tickets, with branding removal available. Multi site costs $299 monthly or $149 per month billed yearly for five bots and 4,500 replies. Agency costs $799 monthly or $399 per month billed yearly for 25 bots and white label.

When Intercom is worth the price

Intercom is the better choice for large support teams needing a full omnichannel help desk, phone and deep reporting. A website chatbot alone does not replace those workflows. Evaluate the value of keeping agents, customer conversations and management reporting together before choosing solely on the AI charge.

Support teams that keep humans on complex tickets can also improve handoffs by routing each ticket to the right agent while Fin handles questions within its scope. Judge the combined process by answer quality and the work left for agents.

In June 2026, Salesforce reportedly signed an agreement to acquire Intercom, now branded Fin, for about $3.6 billion. Pricing terms could change after the deal closes. Confirm the terms available when you buy.

Intercom pricing FAQ

How much does Intercom Fin cost?

Intercom Fin starts at $0.99 per outcome on every plan. With Intercom's help desk, add full seats starting at $29 per month billed annually on Essential. Standalone Fin has no seat charge but requires a minimum monthly commitment, illustrated by Intercom with 50 outcomes.

Is Intercom Fin charged per resolution?

Yes, but Intercom calls the billing unit an outcome, and it includes more than explicit resolutions. It counts customer confirmation, customers stopping questions after Fin responds, and completed workflows including handoffs. A conversation is charged once even when Fin answers several questions within it.

How much does Intercom cost per month?

Intercom costs $29 per full seat on Essential, $85 on Advanced or $132 on Expert per month with annual billing. Monthly billing costs more. Add Fin from $0.99 per outcome and any optional tools. One Essential seat plus 300 outcomes at that rate totals $326.

Does Intercom have a free plan?

No ongoing free plan is listed in the verified pricing used here. Intercom offers a 14 day free trial without a credit card. Eligible startups can apply for Early Stage benefits, including up to 93% off and one year of Fin free, subject to eligibility.

Can I use Fin without Intercom seats?

Yes. Standalone Fin works with an existing help desk such as Salesforce or Zendesk without Intercom seat costs, setup fees or platform fees. A minimum monthly commitment still applies, with 50 outcomes used as Intercom's example. Your existing help desk subscription remains a separate expense.

Is there a cheaper alternative to Intercom Fin?

Yes, for website questions ChatBotWidget can cost less, starting at $49 monthly or $24 per month billed yearly for 700 replies. There are no per-seat or per-resolution fees. Replies and outcomes differ, however, and ChatBotWidget does not replace Intercom's full help desk and email ticketing inbox.
