Chatbase pricing in 2026 has three public plans: Hobby at $40 a month, Standard at $150 and Pro at $500, or $32, $120 and $400 a month when billed yearly. Enterprise is quoted on request. Each plan comes with a monthly allowance of message credits (700, 4,000 and 15,000), and a single answer costs between 1 and 5 credits depending on the AI model you pick. That credit rate, plus add-ons such as extra credits and branding removal, decides what you actually pay.
The figures below come from the Chatbase pricing page and documentation as checked in October 2026. Chatbase raised its top plan from $384 to $500 a month in April 2026, so check the live page before you sign anything.
Chatbase pricing plans at a glance
| Plan | Monthly billing | Billed yearly | Message credits per month | AI agents | Team members | AI actions per agent |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hobby | $40 | $32 a month | 700 | 1 | 2 | 5 |
| Standard | $150 | $120 a month | 4,000 | 1 | 3 | 8 |
| Pro | $500 | $400 a month | 15,000 | 1 | 5 | 12 |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Custom | Custom | Custom | Custom |
Training data limits also step up by plan, from 10 MB on Hobby to 20 MB on Standard and 40 MB on Pro. Yearly billing takes 20% off, which is $96 a year saved on Hobby, $360 on Standard and $1,200 on Pro.
How message credits change the real price
A message credit is not the same as an answer. Chatbase charges a different number of credits per reply depending on the model behind the agent. Its model comparison page lists 1 credit for the fastest models, 2 credits for mid range models such as Claude Sonnet and Gemini Flash, and 4 to 5 credits for the most capable ones such as GPT-5.5 and Claude Opus.
| Plan | Answers at 1 credit | Answers at 2 credits | Answers at 5 credits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hobby, 700 credits | 700 | 350 | 140 |
| Standard, 4,000 credits | 4,000 | 2,000 | 800 |
| Pro, 15,000 credits | 15,000 | 7,500 | 3,000 |
So the same $150 Standard plan covers anywhere from 800 to 4,000 replies a month. If you switch to a stronger model because answers on the cheap one were not good enough, your capacity can drop by a factor of four or five overnight. Plan your budget on the model you will really use, not on the headline credit number.
When the credits run out, the Chatbase documentation says your agents stop responding until the credits reset. Auto recharge avoids that, at $40 per extra 1,000 credits, and those added credits do not expire.
Add-ons that raise the monthly bill
- Extra message credits. $40 per 1,000 credits through auto recharge.
- Extra AI agents. $300 per agent per year. Every plan includes one agent, so a second website or brand means paying for another.
- Remove the Powered by Chatbase badge. Listed at $1,188 a year, which works out to $99 a month. No standard plan includes branding removal.
For a business that wants its own brand on the widget, branding removal often costs more than the Hobby plan itself. That single add-on is the line most buyers miss when they compare sticker prices.
What Chatbase costs in three real scenarios
These estimates use monthly list prices and the credit rates above. Your numbers will differ with traffic and model choice, but the pattern holds.
| Scenario | Usage | Cheapest Chatbase setup | Monthly cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small service business | 600 answers on a 1 credit model, branding kept | Hobby | $40 |
| Same business, own branding, better model | 600 answers on a 2 credit model, badge removed | Hobby, 1,000 extra credits, branding removal | $179 |
| Online store in peak season | 3,000 answers on a 2 credit model, badge removed | Standard, 2,000 extra credits, branding removal | $329 |
The jump from $40 to $179 for the same 600 conversations is the point. Model choice and branding matter more than the plan name, which is also why we wrote a longer piece on how AI chatbot pricing models compare across credits, seats and resolutions.
Chatbase pricing compared with ChatBotWidget
ChatBotWidget prices plans by AI replies and action calls instead of credits, so one answer is always one reply whatever the length. Here is an honest side by side at monthly list prices.
| Point | Chatbase | ChatBotWidget |
|---|---|---|
| Entry price | Hobby, $40 a month, $32 yearly | Site, $49 a month, $24 yearly |
| Usage unit | Message credits, 1 to 5 per reply | AI replies, 1 per reply |
| Entry allowance | 700 credits | 700 replies |
| Actions on the entry plan | Yes, 5 per agent | No, actions start on Business |
| Team members on the entry plan | 2 | 1 |
| Remove branding | Add-on, about $99 a month | Included from Business, $99 a month or $49 yearly |
| Several websites | $300 a year per extra agent | Multi site, 5 bots, $299 a month or $149 yearly |
| White label for agencies | Enterprise conversation | Agency plan, 25 client bots, $799 a month or $399 yearly |
| High volume on one bot | Pro, 15,000 credits for $500 | Multi site, 4,500 replies for $299 |
Where Chatbase wins: if you run one bot with very high traffic on its cheapest model, Pro gives more raw messages per dollar, and the Hobby plan already includes a few actions and a second team member. Where ChatBotWidget wins: you want your own branding, several sites, or a predictable bill that does not move when you change the model. Our Chatbase alternative page goes through features and limits in more detail, and every limit is listed on the chatbot pricing page.
Which Chatbase plan should you choose
Hobby suits a single small site that is happy to keep the Chatbase badge and runs a fast model. Expect around 700 short answers a month.
Standard suits a growing business that wants a stronger model or more traffic. At 2 credits per reply you get about 2,000 answers.
Pro is for high volume support on one agent. It only pays off if you will actually use most of the 15,000 credits.
Enterprise is the route for security reviews and custom terms. Agencies reselling chatbots to clients usually look for a white label plan instead, which is covered in our guide to white label AI chatbots for agencies.
Whichever tool you pick, put the renewal date and the add-ons in your calendar. Chatbot fees are rarely the only subscription creeping up, and keeping your SaaS spend in one view makes price changes like the April 2026 increase easier to catch before the card is charged.
Chatbase pricing questions
How much does Chatbase cost per month?
Chatbase costs $40 a month on Hobby, $150 on Standard and $500 on Pro with monthly billing, or $32, $120 and $400 a month billed yearly. Enterprise has custom pricing. Add-ons for extra credits, extra agents and branding removal come on top.
Does Chatbase have a free plan?
The current pricing page lists the three paid plans and Enterprise. Review sites describe a free tier with about 50 message credits a month whose agents are deleted after 14 days of inactivity, which makes it a test account rather than something to run a business website on.
What happens when you run out of Chatbase message credits?
Your AI agents stop responding until the credits reset at the start of the next period, according to the Chatbase documentation. To avoid that you can turn on auto recharge, which buys 1,000 extra credits for $40 whenever the balance drops below your threshold.
How much does it cost to remove Chatbase branding?
Removing the Powered by Chatbase badge is an add-on listed at $1,188 a year, or about $99 a month. It is not included in Hobby, Standard or Pro, so add it to the plan price if you want the widget to carry only your brand.
Is Chatbase cheaper billed annually?
Yes. Yearly billing takes 20% off, bringing Hobby to $32, Standard to $120 and Pro to $400 a month. You pay the full year upfront, so it only makes sense once you are sure the plan size and model fit your traffic.
Is there a cheaper alternative to Chatbase?
It depends on what you count. ChatBotWidget starts at $24 a month billed yearly for 700 replies, and includes branding removal and actions from the Business plan at $49 a month yearly. For one high traffic bot on a cheap model, Chatbase Pro can be cheaper per message.
